Hex Publishers Signs Warren Hammond, Carter Wilson and Mark Stevens
(Denver, Colorado) – Hex Publishers, a small, independent publishing house based in Denver and specializing in works of dark, speculative fiction, announced today that it has signed Warren Hammond, Carter Wilson and Mark Stevens to its roster of award-winning and bestselling authors. Hammond will contribute to Nightmares Unhinged, Hex's first horror anthology. Both Wilson and Stevens will contribute to a 2016 mystery anthology.
Hammond, a Colorado Book Award winner, is known for his gritty, futuristic KOP series. By taking the best of classic detective noir, and reinventing it on a destitute colony world, Warren has created uniquely dark tales of murder, corruption and redemption. His latest novel, Tides of Maritinia, was released in December.
Examiner.com named Wilson's debut novel, Final Crossing, a Top Book of 2014. His second novel, The Boy in the Woods, was described by Minneapolis Books Examiner as being "in the vein of early Stephen King." Booklist referred to it as being "impossible to put down."
Stevens wrote The Denver Post best-seller, Antler Dust. His follow-up, Buried by the Roan was a 2012 Colorado Book Awards finalist. Mark pulls from his journalistic background (The Christian Science Monitor, The Rocky Mountain News, The Denver Post and PBS) to build stronger narratives, as witnessed in his newest title, Trapline.
Hex was founded by Denver-based, award-winning writer Josh Viola and Dean Wyant, a long-time Colorado resident and bookseller. Frustrated with the many changes taking place in the publishing industry, the two set out to create a publishing house geared to writers and their needs. Nightmares Unhinged will be released in September.
